Katherine Karlin- Bye Bye Larry
This week I chose to write a little more on Karlin's piece called "Bye Bye Larry".
In Bye Bye Larry starts off with a wake of a guy named Larry. The story then turns its attention from the deceased to a seemingly budding relationship that has some twists over two women- or that was the intention. The end makes you think on this, because the story really did not elaborate on Larry the dead guy; it was on the characters themselves. The writing moves along through the characters development rather then the typical plot-driven story. As the characters develop and create more of the tension and contribute to the atmosphere the story stems from the plot of Larry the dead guy to the characters that relate to the deceased.
Ms. Karlin, although she hasn't had much published, in her two pieces I have looked at; Bye Bye Larry and The Good Word she focuses more on the characters and the dialogue between the characters. She also pays close attention to the atmosphere making sure it is visually plausible and convincing.
