I was going through my collection of stuff from my best and came across and old award I just loved and wanted to share it with y'all. I was in the 6th grade at Montello School in Lewiston, Maine. I had a desk in front of the class. I could see the chalkboard and the bulletin board. The bulletin board was my art studio. I designed it and fixed it all up. If I would become upset I recall going up and taking it down and starting a new one, didn't matter if class was going on or not.
The classroom was pretty neat we got drawers to store our things. We usually shared them with two other people. I would hide the jumprope in the top caddies.
At recess if you found or had the jumprope you didn't have to hold an end. So I began hiding it, I was not great at jumping rope but did ok. This year I signed up for the talent show. Debbie Gibson was big that year, a girl named Tracy [D] did Debbie Gibson song. I forgot what I wanted to do, something great I would imagine.
I was in chorus for a little while, but didn't care for Mr. Nutting. The science fair proved cool, even had pizza with Melissa [G] from the band, after a day with Jara [J] where we would sign contracts to be friends, and she forewarned that all she had to do was rip them up and poof contract ended, no longer friends. I would venture to her house after school sometimes, she had two younger sisters and we would play school or something up in the attic. My science fair project was on sweat glands this year. I had gotten a few awards for achievement in art. Loved art gluing all kinds of stuff on a page, feathers, art and all. The science fair I ended up being some dancing for La Bamba with some guy standing in a chair named Rickey. Charlene & Jaime [J] helped out with the Talent Show. I got to name it. Entertainment Tonight, probally off the program on television.
I got married in the yard during recess. This girl, I don't even recall liking much, Christina or Kris [M] and me were to get married in the school playground. Everyone knew or so it seemed. I got a divorce and hired Carrie [L] as my lawyer and Tracy [D] was the minister.
At the end of the year everyone got an award. Mine as I consider to be unique was the 'Get Away from My Desk Award" I'll post the picture in a bit.
